BTI in collaboration with the Committee of Community Members (CCM) and the Gewog Administration of Phangkhar Gewog under Zhemgang Dzongkhag, conducted a social audit on some selected schemes of the Gewog. 2/12/2019: BTI in collaboration with Neptune Holiday observed the zero waste hour.

Bhutan Transperancy Initiative supported CCC and CCM technically in capacity building training on “Social Accountability Tools” to two committies in Gelephu.

1/11/19. Signing of contract between the Committee of Concerned Citizen (CCC), Committee of Community Members (CCM) of Gelephu and Bhutan Transparency Initiative for the implementation of a project titled ‘Civic Engagement in Local Governance’ in Gelephu.

Capacity building of the students on SA and institution of a Club (Youth Practitioner for Accountability) in the College of Natural Resources.81 students participated for the two days program. The project is supported by UNDP Bhutan.

The final day of the SA training ended with the assessment of the hostel and the mess services of the college through the use of Community Score Card (CSC), followed by an interface meeting between the service providers and the service receivers. BTI would like to thank the president, management, student government and all the participants of Gedu College of Business Studies for their support.

More than 400 participated for the advocacy and sensitization program on Corruption and Anti-Corruption Initiatives of the country. The signing of MOU between ACC and BTI.13/9/2019. Towards strengthening and promoting cooperation in preventing corruption in the country, Bhutan Transparency Initiative signed an MOU with the Anti-Corruption Commission.This is the 2nd event of the signing of an MOU following the successful implementation of the 1st document signed in 2014.

27/08/2019. BTI bid Farewell to our Admin/Finance Officer, Mr. Kinley Penjor. He has been in BTI for the last 4 years and contributed in building a strong administration and financial management system. We commend his integrity, dedication and sense of belongingness that he demonstrated in his works with the organization. BTI wish him all the best in his new endeavor.

12/08/2019. BTI attended the consultative meeting called on by the Good Governance Committee (GGC) of National Council (NC) of Bhutan. The meeting discussed on the findings from the research report titled ‘Anti-Corruption Agency Strengthening initiative Assessment of The Bhutan Anti-Corruption Commission 2015’.

Our Waste, Our Responsibility! Observing “Zero Waste Hour” by BTI in colaboration with Neptune Holiday on 2nd August 2019. 


On 16th July BTI had an interactive session with visiting faculty members and staff from the North East Institute of Social Science and Research (NEISSR) Nagaland, at BTI office. 


Bhutan Transparency Initiative and our neighbor, Neptune Holidays Bhutan joined the nation in observing the “Zero Waste Hour.” As a part of the event, we dedicated one hour to clean our surrounding areas to make it a waste-free environment and inculcate a civic responsibility of managing our own waste.


On 20th and 21st June BTI in collobration with NERSWN (North East Research and Social Work Networking) had a consultation on Trans-Boundary Cooperation for Effective Management of Water Risk at Kokrajhar, Assam, India. 


On 16/06/2019 the Committee of Community Members in Gelephu Thromde  conducted a performance audit on the drinking water services and construction and maintenance of the drain in the Thromde area despite the heavy rain. 


Towards assessing the community (user) satisfaction on LG’s service delivery in Phangkhar Gewog, BTI facilitated the practical exercise of Social Accountability (SA) tool. Community Score Card (CSC) was applied to assess the services of Community Center and the quality of a Farm road. The program was a part of a learning exercise for the members of the Committee of Community Members (CCM) formed as a part of the civic engagement pilot project in the gewog.


After successfully completing the 2 days workshop on civic engagement in Gelephu, BTI conducted a similar workshop at Phangkhar Gewog in Zhemgang. The program is a part of women engagement and empowerment project supported by the Kingdom of 🇳🇱
