Dr. Rinzin Rinzin was appointed as the new Executive Director of BTI on the 25th of March 2021. Dr. Rinzin is an accomplished author, scholar and poet with many publications and has a long list of achievements and honors to his name. He was a member of the National Council of Bhutan from 2008 to 2013. He has also served as a lecturer, researcher and consultant during the span of his invigorating profession. Prior to joining BTI as of the new ED of BTI, Dr. Rinzin served as member of the Board between 2018-2020 and the Technical Advisor to the secretariat between 2015-2018.
Aum Pema Lhamo, the former Executive Director of BTI, now serving as the Governance Advisor, is highly qualified and experienced in governance and development, policy formulation and legislation review. Aum Pema has served as the Member of the National Council of Bhutan during the 1st Parliament and worked as the Program Director in the Ministry of Agriculture prior to the appointment in the National Council. She is a dedicated advocate on the fight against corruption stressing on the importance of transparency and accountability.
Dzang has a BA in Economics and Population Studies from Sherubtse College and joined BTI in November 2022. Prior to joining BTI, she worked as an Assistant Tourism Officer with the Tourism Council of Bhutan for a period of six months followed by serving as an Assistant Project Coordination Officer with the Gross National Happiness Commission (GNHC) for around three years.
Mr. Pemba Tshering holds a bachelor’s degree in B.Com (Prof.) from Punjab Technical University in India. After his graduation in 2018, he worked as an Audit Team leader at Karma & Associate and has a sound knowledge of Bhutan Accounting Standard (BAS). His is also competent in audit report writing and ISSAI-based audit planning. He joined the BTI team as the Asst. Admin/Finance Officer in October 2022.
Ms. Dechen Lhadon joined Bhutan Transparency Initiative (BTI) on July 1st, 2024. She holds a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from Gedu College of Business Studies. Dechen is passionate about promoting good governance and citizen engagement through civil society initiatives. With a strong interest in Information Technology and the role of CSOs in strengthening transparency and accountability, she brings valuable expertise and dedication to her work at BTI.
Ms. Pema Lhamo joined the Bhutan Transparency Initiative (BTI) in July 2024. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Political Science and Sociology from Sherubtse College, Royal University of Bhutan.
Her academic background cultivated a strong interest in governance, advocacy, and public policy. Prior to joining BTI, she worked as a content writer at an education consultancy, where she refined her communication and analytical skills—skills that now contribute meaningfully to her work in research, stakeholder engagement, and policy-focused initiatives.
