Mr. Jakob Stark was born in 1948 in a small village in Switzerland. After primary and secondary school, he did a vocational training in electronics. He also graduated with a degree in electronics and computer technology from the Technical University in Winterthur. He worked for various companies and later founded his own business. After a successful professional life, he retired in 2011.
Mr. Jakob loves travelling. He has traveled through more than 50 countries and has an excellent knowledge and understanding of many countries and and various cultures.
Mr. Jakob is a kind, compassionate and altruistic gentleman with great love for the natural environment. He feels sorry to see a lot of misery, selfishness, corruption and environmental destruction in the world. During his first visit to Bhutan in 2011, he was impressed to see that preservation of tradition and culture, conservation of environment and modernization coexist wonderfully in a balanced way. Further, he was happy to find that living Buddhism results in a socially just society.
Mr. Jakob is happy that he has had a good life thus far. Nevertheless, he says, "Unfortunately, I don't have any children of my own, so I decided to give part of my fortune to the children in Bhutan because I believe that the future is in the hands of the children". He also strongly believes that "we can only achieve a world of happiness if people succeed in eliminating corruption." Thus, Mr. Jacob became the first Honourary Member of BTI on the most auspicious 15th day of the fifth month of the Lunar calender coinciding with 24th June 2021. Mr. Jakob Stark |

My name is Jakob Stark. I was born in 1948 in a small village in Switzerland. After primary and secondary school, I did a vocational training in electronics. After that, I graduated from the Technical University in Winterthur with a degree in electronics and computer technology. After my studies, I worked for various companies and later founded my own business. After a successful professional life, I retired in 2011. In my spare time, I traveled through more than 50 countries and got to know many countries and cultures. I saw a lot of misery, selfishness, corruption and destruction of nature which always made me sad. In 2011 I came to Bhutan, the land of happiness, for the first time. The preservation of nature and the protection of culture coexist wonderfully with modernization. Living Buddhism results in a socially just society. I had a good life. Unfortunately, I don't have any children of my own and so I decided to give part of my fortune to the children in Bhutan. The future is in the hands of the children.
